| Today's quote is from J. R. R. Tolkien's book, The Hobbit. In the last paragraph of the book, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins is talking to Gandalf the wizard. Bilbo is saying that the old songs and prophecies are being fulfilled, and here is Gandalf's response.
"Of Course!" said Gandalf. "And Why should not they prove true? Surely you don't disbelieve the prophecies, because you had a hand in bringing them about yourself? You don't really suppose, do you, that all your adventures and escapes were managed by mere luck, just for your sole benefit? You are a very fine person, Mr. Baggins, and I and very fond of you; but you are only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all!"
"Thank Goodness!" said Bilbo laughing, and handed him the tobacco-jar. The Hobbit, By J.R.R. Tolkien | | |
| Todays quote is from Lord Peter Wimsey.
Lord Peter: Oh, Bunter here you are! Next time you hold Hannah's hand, will you ask her whether Mr. Boyes drank any water from his bedroom water-bottle before dinner?
Bunter: Pardon me, my lord, the possibility had already presented itself to my mind.
Lord Peter: It had?
Bunter: Yes, my lord.
Lord Peter: Do you never overlook anything, Bunter?
Bunter: I endeavor to give satisfaction, my lord.
Lord Peter: Well then, don't talk like Jeeves. It irritates me. ~ Strong Poison, by Dorothy Sayers
There are quite a few references of P G Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster stories in the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries. But Wodehouse also mentions LPW in a couple of his stories.

| My Parents left about 10 minutes ago. Pray that I can get my chores and school done and that I will have a good report for them when they come home.

| Tomorrow my Parents make a foray to Scotland leaving me here all by myself for almost three weeks. Well not quite by myself. My Brother and Sister-in-law live less then a mile away. My Grandparents live in town and we have good neighbors that all said if I need anything give them a call. Right about now I can't identify the different emotions going through me. One part says,"Cool, I'm going to be on my own FOR THREE WEEKS!" Another is,"Wow, this is kind of scary." But it will probably be all right, I might even enjoy it. But we will see what happens in the next three weeks. Well, Ill be sure to blog when they get back.
